Goodwood - The home of champions
In 1802 the 3rd Duke of Richmond introduced horseracing to Goodwood for the amusement of local army officers. Race week was so popular it was soon dubbed Glorious Goodwood and today the racecourse is renowned for being one of the most exciting – and is considered by many to be the most beautiful – in the world.
With 19 days of spectacular racing taking place between May and October, Goodwood has the privileged of hosting one of the undoubted highlights of the season, the Qatar Goodwood Festival – lovingly known as 'Glorious Goodwood'. With five days of thrilling action set against the magnificent backdrop of the rolling Sussex countryside, combined with a crowd of awe-inspiring elegant fashion, each year the festival creates a magical atmosphere like no other.
To begin the flat racing season, Goodwood starts with the Festival of Food and Racing in May. This fabulous three-day race meeting invites you to watch exhilarating horseracing, taste the finest local and national artisan foods, listen to expert foodies at our table top encounters and experience hands-on activities - all whilst enjoying the spring-time, countryside air.
As well as the marvel of Glorious Goodwood, the excitement of the Three Friday Nights evening meets, hosted in June, takes Goodwood horseracing to another level. With an eclectic mix of dance anthems, pounding tunes and all-time classics, the sell-out line up has previously included Rudimental, Example & DJ Wire and Steve Aoki, all taking the famous Parade Ring decks for three memorable evenings on the laser-lit dancefloor.

Three Friday Nights, presented by Now TV
5, 12 and 19 June 2019
Three Friday Nights, presented by NOW TV presents a dynamic combination of racing, music and dancing to create a truly unforgettable experience.
First, you will enjoy a six-race card that offers a feast of excellent horseracing action, with the first race starting around 6pm on each evening. Then, after dark, the hallowed turf of the Parade Ring switches from hooves to heels as racing makes way for three world-famous DJs!

Qatar Goodwood Festival

With five days of thrilling action set against the magnificent backdrop of the rolling Sussex countryside, the Qatar Goodwood Festival – popularly known as 'Glorious Goodwood' – is one of the highlights of the flat-racing season.
From the excitement and anticipation of the opening day, on Tuesday, to the £1million Qatar Sussex Stakes on the Wednesday, Ladies' Day on Thursday, a total of four Group races on Friday and the thrill of the Stewards' Cup cavalry charge on Saturday, this fixture is undoubtful the sporting and social highlight of the season at Goodwood.
